LOVELESS RECEIVES FIRST AWARDS OF THE EUROPEAN FILM ACADEMY

Loveless, the film directed by Andrey Zvyagintsev and produced by Alexander Rodnyansky and Sergei Melkumov received the first awards of the European Film Academy (EFA).

Mikhail Krichman received the European Cinematographer prize. Justifying the decision of the jury, the European Film Academy noted that Krichman “leads us through the gloomy atmosphere of the film and conveys a strong sense of discomfort, darkness, emptiness and sadness”, provoking “an eerie sense of anxiety and inner awe”.

Composers Eugene Galperin and Sasha Galperin received a prize for the music for the film, which, in the opinion of the jury, reinforces the general tension that encompasses one watching the feature.

On November 14th, the so-called first, “technical” winners were announced. Loveless has been nominated in three main categories: the feature was included in the top five nominees in the categories: European Film, European Director and European Screenplay. The award ceremony will take place on December 9th in Berlin.
